11/29/01

Trinity's State Title football game has been moved to Saturday at 1pm - MS. College in Jackson, MS

Joey Martin saved the day...again, he has alot of stuff to read about on his page in here and it came at a time when there's not much going on since Wednesday is always pretty slow.

Basketball Today

ACCS host Parklane - 4pm - 4 games

Vidalia Tournament - 4pm

Soccer Today

Cathedral at Wesson -5:30pm - 2 games

Alabama plays USM tonight on ESPN2 at 6pm.

11/28/01

Girls Basketball

ACCS 37 - Central Hinds 46, Marchbanks 24 pts. 6 three pointers.

Cathedral 28 - West Lincoln 67, Prescott 8 pts.

Ferriday 71 - Davidson 33, Jones 22 pts.

ACCS 44 - Central Hinds 50, Rayborn 12 pts.

Cathedral 45 - West Lincoln 75, Lane 13 pts.

Natchez 77 - Amite 43, Foster 20 pts.

Vidalia 68 - Sicily Island 43, Banks 22 pts., McNulty 22 pts.

I was at the ACCS games last night and saw Meghan Marchbanks put on a show, she hit 6 three pointers only missing one, and she only missed 2 other shots from the field, a great 24 pt. performance.

ACCS boys had alot of turnovers and missed alot of shots, although I hear that Central Hinds boys are suppose to be one of the better teams in 3A this year, they traded leads quite a few times during the game and this without starting players Garrett Gamberi and Luke Ogden. While most people have left the gym when the boys play, they hung around last night and saw a great ballgame, once the rust is cleaned up, AC and boys coach Bruce Pickle are going to impress some people.

New York Yankee 3rd baseman Scott Brosius is retiring from baseball.

New Orleans Saint William Roaf is out for the season with a knee injury.

11/27/01

I'm think about doing some "Former Miss-Lou Stars" interviews, but, I need help, if you know of some Stars that are willing, give me a buzz.

Trinity's Chad Ridley was named a Top Performer by the Clarion Ledger Sports Team for his performance against Glenbrook Academy where he ran for 131 yds. scored a 65 yd. run, a 90 yd. kickoff return and threw a 40 yd. TD pass. Chad also is the TD leader in the State.

Trinity's Chase Brown leads the State in interceptions. (Must have got that athletic ability from his mom..hehe)

ACCS will play at Central Hinds today, someone had it mixed up with Madison Central that was damaged by a tornado.

Tampa Bay beat St. Louis on Monday night 24-17, too many turnovers for St. Louis.

Mark Powell, Steve Comeaux, Cole Bradford, Betsy Powell and Jordan Farmer won the 2001 Beau Pre' C.C. Men's & Ladies Golf Assn.'s Scramble on Sunday with a score of 15 under.

Miami stays on top of the football polls and Florida moves into the #2 position.

ACCS does not play today against WCCA, games were cancelled, also ACCS may play at home on Tuesday since Central Hinds had some tornado damage at their school, I'm sure they'll just play at their place instead of ACCS when they play again later on in the season.

Greg Norman wins $1,000,000 in Skins Game. Tiger Woods, Colin Montgomery and Jesper Parnevik also played along side of Norman.

I said earlier in the week that Trinity Episcopal's Chad Ridley had to step it up to advance his team to the finals and he must have read about it here, because he did just what I said! OK Chad, if your reading this listen closely, this is it, you're the leader and the spark plug in this engine. I know that ACCS played Wayne Academy in a preseason game at Copiah Academy and ACCS beat them in 1 quarter of play. Your team can win this game but you all must stay focused for 4 quarters of play, and of course, you have to keep doing those extra things you do every Friday night. Good Luck to the Trinity Episcopal Saints and their Coach's on Thursday up in Clinton, MS....Bring that State Title Home!!!!

I have some inside information that I'll share with you today, ACCS Boy's Basketball is going to be different than years past, alot of new faces combined with some of the old will make a big difference this year. I'm not just saying this because my son Christopher is playing this year but, to add him with (Sr.) Ty Smith, (Sr.) Garrett Gamberi (tough inside right there) (Jr.) Caleb Walker, (Jr.) Bo Brashier, (So.) Glenn Williams, (So.) Luke Ogden and the others that support the cast, and ACCS will be a strong force this year in the MPSA 3A Division. Remember that you read it here first!

Is Triangle the only camp getting any deer? I haven't heard about anybody else, let me know!

Hey! Have you noticed the MissLouSports.Com advertising on Channel 4? I think it's stuck there because of technical difficulties, my wife said that it's been there for over a week.....gee, I hate that!!!!  hehehe

News from Triangle Hunting Club: Kinda slow during the holidays, a few does were brought in, two were a father/son duo as they both bagged does on the same hunt. Saturday evening Gill Morris harvested a nice doe and on Sunday morning, he brought in a nice 8 pt. with a 14" spread, but it doesn't look it, as it had good mass and tall tines, a young deer also.

Considering the heat and plenty of acorns on the ground, we had a so-so weekend at Triangle Hunting Club, there were 4 deer harvested, a 4 pt., a 5 pt, a 8pt. and a doe. There were a couple of spikes sighted and a few that were ran off either coming or going to their stands. We need a gully washer of a rain to wash away some of them acorns down the creeks and rot the rest of them to get the deer to come to the food plots. Let me know about any deer hunts that happened this weekend.

Duke and Maryland rate 1 & 2 in first basketball poll.

Miami finally made it to the #2 spot in the BCS polls, think they were catching  a little heat?

Oakland beat Denver last night 38-28.

The big talk in New Orleans is about Kyle Turley and his ejection from Sunday's game. He claims he was protecting his quarterback when he flared up at Jets free safety Damien Robinson at the 3 yard line and it pushed the Saints back to the 20 and probably cost them the chance to tie the game. Am I the only person alive that thinks that Turley is a little off his rocker? I know he's been to emotional all year and cost the Saints alot of yardage with his antics. It's time to grow up....this is the NFL!!!!

I've been a San Diego Chargers fan from way back, when Dan Fouts was the QB and they had Charlie Joiner, Kevin Winslow and John Jefferson receiving, and the game the other day against Buffalo which Flutie made the winning touchdown after being ousted from Buffalo last year, made my day, you can't help but rally for a guy that's played at the level he has, everybody still thinks he's too small for the NFL at 5'8-3/4, but he's still out there and proving them wrong.....hats off to Doug Flutie and the San Diego Chargers!!!!

I went hunting yesterday evening and didn't get into the woods until a little after 4pm, at 4:25pm a doe walked out and stayed in my food plot until 5:33pm, it was a harvestable doe, but I keep hearing that the bucks are in rut and I waited it out hoping for bigger and better. He never showed. When I got back to the camp, there were 2 does harvested, one by Charlie Sanders and the other by Chris Rasco, this is Chris's 2nd deer so far this year as he harvested a nice 6 pt. last week.

Congratulations to Trinity Coach David King & Chad Ridley for being named Democrat 2001 Coach of the Year and Player of the year respectively.

I was watching ACCS in the Tensas Tournament this weekend and the AC girls did a fantastic job as a team, congratulations to them for a great effort. The boys on the other hand, started slow and didn't wake up until the final quarter of play and had the lead with seconds on the clock, mental breakdowns cost the Rebels the Tournament Championship. There's alot of talent on this team. Once they realize that it's a team effort and not an individual effort, you'll see alot of W's in their column. Good luck Coach Pickle!

Basketball Today

Vidalia in the Davidson Tournament

I don't list Jr. High games as I just don't have the time nor can I get all the scores, I cover 7 schools in the Miss-Lou and already I can tell that Basketball season is the hardest for me time wise. If someone wants to cover the Jr. High games and give me the scores, I'll be glad to list them on this site.

I do have to mention that the ACCS Jr. High girls won their first game last night over WCCA, the reason I have to mention this is because my daughter, Morgan Rayborn was the leading scorer with 9 pts.....OK, I can go home tonight!

Henry & Beverly Harris from Hot Springs, AR win the Belles & Beaus Couples Scramble at Beau Pre' C.C. with a 2 day total of 14 under. Tom Geoghegan & Sally Durkin of Natchez finished in 2nd place.

The Annual Natchez High Classic Basketball Tournament starts Thursday through Saturday. I'll have the games for each day listed tomorrow.

Clemson edged out Ole Miss for the Humanitarian Bowl, doesn't look good for the Rebels in post season.

QB's Ken Dorsey, Joey Harrington, Eric Crouch and Rex Grossman have been selected as finalist for the Heisman Trophy. A 5th player will be added this week.

12/4/01

Corinth vs. Collins - Saturday, 3pm

Clarksdale vs. South Pike, Saturday, 7:30pm

Ole Miss to find out if they make a Bowl Game this year, maybe Ole Miss vs. Louisiana Tech in the Humanitarian Bowl.

Well the new BCS Polls are out and things have changed, if Florida loses, Nebraska has a chance to play for the National Championship...whew! That Oregon thing had me nervous, although I think that a Miami vs. Colorado game might be a better matchup as Colorado has been hot at the end of the season. Here's another scenario, if LSU beats Tennessee, Oregon wins the Fiesta Bowl and Nebraska beats Miami, the Oregon Ducks could be the National Champions...as least on paper anyway.....and by the way, the BCS has dumped undefeated BYU from any chances of a Bowl Championship game.

Texas A&M will play either USM or TCU in the GalleryFurniture.Com Bowl, USM & TCU play each other this weekend to see who goes.

LSU & Illinois are probable for the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, but Nebraska could play Illinois in the Sugar Bowl if LSU loses to Tennessee.

I'll be at the ACCS vs. Woodville games today, my daughter plays in the first game and my son plays in the last game, so I'll have a good 5 hours of sitting to do, come by and see me if you have the chance and enjoy some good Rebel basketball.....I know the High school boys are 0-3, but keep on watching, they've lost 3 close games and they're getting better!

12/3/01

Tuesday Basketball

ACCS Host WCCA - 4pm - 4 games

Cathedral host Bogue Chitto - 5pm - 3 games

Huntington at CHA - 4pm - 4 games

Trinity Episcopal host Pine Hills - 4pm - 4 games

Vidalia at Winnsboro - 5pm - 3 games

Tuesday Soccer

Natchez High at Clinton - 5pm - 2 games

New Orleans wins over Carolina 27-23

The Polls have Miami playing Tennessee in the Rose Bowl, if Tennessee can knock off LSU in the SEC Championship. They beat LSU earlier this year but, it was raining and LSU played them a really good game, it will be interesting to see how Tennessee can handle LSU's explosive offense. I think that LSU has a good chance of winning this game and if they do, we could see Miami playing Oregon in the Rose Bowl....gee wouldn't that be fun?

Ole Miss had a good year and they are waiting for a bowl bid, the loss to Miss. State cost them millions!

Atlanta Brave's pitcher John Smoltz agrees to 3 year deal worth $30 million, that's $10 million a year for a closing pitcher....not too shabby!
