This former South Natchez football star lettered at Southwestern Louisiana in 1985 and '86. Answer: Jay Yates. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Who finished second to John David Crow in the 1957 Heisman race? Answer: Alex Karras. Winner: "Bullet" Bill Darsey.

Who was the first golfer to win more than $1 million in a year in official earnings? Answer: Curtis Strange. Winner: Joey Martin.

Happy New Year!!!! to everybody, I hope the holiday season was everything you expected and may this year be better than last for you all. It's hard to believe that the past year went by so fast, I guess it just seems that way when you get older but, who keeps up with age anyway? Just remember, you're only as old as you feel and the way you act.....that's why I feel like a 90 year old with the mind of a 13 year old! But I guess I didn't have to tell ya'll that, huh?

Basketball around the Miss-Lou will crank back up, but some teams did take advantage of the holiday season to play in tournament action to keep their skills sharp during the off time. Conference match-ups will really heat up now and teams will be vying for a play-off spot come February...for most anyway. Best of luck to all the Miss-Lou teams in getting this done!

January means that most schools will be heading to the diamond for baseball practice, this is always my favorite time to go around and listen to the local coaches bellyache about how bad their team is and how sorry they are going to be. And the best case in point is none other than Vidalia Head Baseball Coach "Johnny Lee "Where's my Maalox" Hoffpauir. The undisputed King of Complaining! If you other coaches want to get in on this game of poor mouthing, you better sharpen your skills if you think you have any chance of competing with Master Hoff !!!!

I got a call from JoJo Eidt last week to invite me out to their camp for supper with most of the coaches in the area, ACCS had Gill Morris and Ron Rushing, Cathedral had Craig and Ken, Jr. Beesley, Trinity had David King and Matt Mason and Vidalia had Johnny Lee Hoffpauir. The main course for the supper was a Jambalaya prepared by none other than Charlie "Doc Fungo" Mascagni and it was great, even though I couldn't feel my lips for the next 2 hours afterwards! The food and the fellowship was great and the poor mouthing about each schools teams was as expected. It's funny to listen to these coaches try and "one up" each other in the poor mouthing department but, we all know who the King is!

Speaking of the King, I heard through the grapevine that he got a 10 point buck last week, I'm not sure if he was by the fire when this happened or that he might have actually gone into the woods. I'm sure there's a story behind this!

Out at my camp, there hasn't been much happening, I'm hoping that the warm weather is the reason. We were 1 deer short from last year on New Years Day so, maybe things will pick back up shortly. Funny how it doesn't ever really get cold until baseball season.

Christopher starts throwing the ole baseball around today, he was told by his coach to not pick a ball up until 2005, he said his arm feels better now than ever, and he'll probably work out with the ACCS baseball team and also help Coach Morris out wherever he needs him too. He doesn't have to report to Spring Training until the middle of March, so he'll get to see a few games before he heads back to Peoria, AZ.

The Sugar Bowl comes on tonight and I think it will probably be the best game of the whole Bowl Series, V Tech is better than alot of people are giving them credit for and I believe it's going to be a shoot-out!

The Ernge Bowl is tomorrow night and I could care less about who wins! I'm just glad that the last two years have been a bad scar for the whole BCS bowl selection process and maybe something will be done to correct it all! We need an eight team play-off system and it's the only way we can have a true national champion.

Redneck Adventures went out to Church Hill, MS last Tuesday to film a Crow Shooting show with Cracky McDaniel but, we only got one crow, they just wouldn't fly low enough, so that show was a wash. We hung around until dark and filmed a coon hunting show with Leroy and Shug and harvested 4 nice coons and stuck another in a tree. The next morning we drove way down the levee on the Louisiana side and went rabbit hunting with Boogie Long and his kids, we got 4 or 5 rabbits and since I still had the crow call in my Mule, we harvested a crow during the middle of the rabbit hunt. I'll probably combine the Coon hunt and the Rabbit hunt into one show and have it on this week.

Joey captured 2 out of 3 on the trivia last week, he told me that this would be the last easy one for awhile, he's gonna get tough!

Ya'll have a great week and drop me a line about any news that is worthy of printing.

Name the two South Natchez players who scored two touchdowns each in the Colonels' 1987 35-12 win over Vidalia. Answer: Dejuan Singleton and James Perry. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

What NBA team lost 24 consecutive games? Answer: Cavaliers. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

This Tulane kicker connected on a 54-yard field goal against Memphis in 1978. Answer: Eddie Murray. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

OK, my Bolts lost to the N.Y. Jets but, it was in overtime and San Diego did have their chance with a missed field goal that would have sent them into this week. I'm still a proud Charger fan and they did better this year than me or anyone else thought, things are headed in the right direction now, and we always have next year!

St. Louis beat Seattle to advance to play Atlanta next week and the Jets will play at Pittsburgh.. The Colts smashed the Bronco's 49 to 24 but, the score was really worse! The Colts will play at New England. The Viking's upended the Cheese Heads 31 -17 to advance to play Philly. Poor Brett Favre, he got picked more than an old man picking hair from his ear!

We had a couple of bucks taken this past week out at my camp, a 7pt. and a 5pt. the latter by master deer slayer Gill Morris. He took his buck yesterday evening.

I need to clarify my story from last week about Johnny Lee Hoffpauir's buck, it was an 11 pt. and I also got the scoop on how it was taken. Hoff's stand is close to the camp, I mean really close! Like, he can hear conversations around the camp from his stand. So Hoff is headed for the long treacherous hike to his stand when he spooks this big buck up, as a matter of fact, he almost stepped on the deer, apparently, the buck was in such a deep sleep that it startled it so bad that it jumped up and ran about 20 yds. and ran into a very large tree, knocking itself almost out. The deer fell to the ground and got up with shaky legs and stumbled about 3 steps before falling again. In the meantime, Hoff is trying to load his gun, he brought his 30-6 rifle but somehow brought 12 gauge shotgun shells with him. So Hoff had to make the trek back to his camp to find his bullets in his hunting lodge (and anybody that has seen his "Lodge" know that this took several moments) Hoff ran back to where the deer was still staggering around and then Hoff fell out, you see Hoff ain't in real good shape. So imagine this, a deer in the wood's disoriented and Hoff laying flat of his back gasping for air with cough syrup coming from his nose. This goes on for about 30 minutes. Hoff finally get enough air & cough syrup back in him and he rolls over and shoots the buck as it rams into yet another tree. They never did find a bullet hole in the deer but, Hoff got his trophy just the same.

Redneck Adventures got some more Crow Hunting footage, it's just hard finding places to go during deer season, these deer hunters have a problem with us going in the woods and shooting 30 or 40 times with 12 gauge shotguns and laughing out loud at each other when someone misses. I don't understand it! We're headed down to Buras, LA this weekend for a fishing contest between to guides, one fishes with a Bayou Chub and the other fishes with the Speculizer. They guide together and it's a really fun event that gives one or the other, bragging rights for a year. They also take this time to take some young anglers fishing for their first time.

Ya'll have agreat week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

Name the team which ended Ferriday High's streak of 54 straight football games without a loss. Answer: Block. Winner: David King

Bonus Questions

Who is the only designated hitter to be an MVP in a World Series? Answer: Paul Molitor. Winner: DJ

In 1973 who replaced the legendary Roberto Clemente as the Pirates right fielder? Answer: Richie Zisk. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Brent Tosspon signed with Nicholls State in Thibodaux back in December on Jr. College Transfer day - He will start there the first of the week.  He is going to be on the offensive line!  The head coach there is Jay Thomas, and Brent likes him very well. Best of luck Brent and we'll be looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Congratulations to Kelly Fuller, she bagged a 9 pt. buck with a 21-1/2" spread! Really nice pictures came with the e-mail, I'll get them posted as soon as I can. Congrats again Kelly....I'm jealous!

Well it's official, Bobby Marks will be the new head football coach at ACCS. Whether you like it not, if you are an Alumni or have kids going to school there, please get behind him and give him your full support. He's a winner, I don't care what anybody else says. Facts are facts!!!!!!!!! Good Luck Coach!

I was gone this weekend to Arkansas to hunt at Bayou Wings, it's just across the river from Greenville, MS. We got 6 Ducks Sunday morning and none this morning. With the river rising and the water in the fields frozen (not to mention, I was frozen too!) the ducks are hanging around the river where the water is flowing. I saw a lot of pictures and talked to a lot of people that came in and out of the place and they assured me that Bayou Wings has ducks!

We'll be filming a deer show tomorrow and a Woodcock hunt either Wednesday or Thursday. Friday we're headed to Lake Charles to shoot speckled-bellys!

I'll catch ya'll later, have a great week!

In 1991, Cathedral's boys won the Monterey Basketball Tournament. Who was MVP? Answer: Shane Henderson. Winner: Penny Daggett.

Bonus Questions

In 1976, what team did Alcorn State beat 132-51, the largest margin of victory ever by an Alcorn team? Answer: Paul Quinn. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Who was the first AL manager to get tossed by umpires in both games of a doubleheader? Answer: Billy Martin. Winner: Joey Martin.

Well, if sat at home yesterday and watched football, like I did, you probably changed channels too! What started out to be a good game between the Birds, turned into a ho-hum game in the second half with Philly taking this one easily! So I prepared for the next game between the Steelers and Patriots. Hey, this one's gonna be better because Pitt beat them last time and Rothy ain't gonna play bad two weeks in a row....right?.....Wrong! The rookie just couldn't handle the pressure as the Pats handed it to them big time. So here we go into the Super Bowl with the Pats and Eagles, and after watching the Pats the last few games, it looks like they'll be hard to beat so, I'll be pulling for the birds! Who knows, with "T.O." back, they just might pull off the upset!

Basketball around the Miss-Lou in winding down, by the end of February, most all will be finished and Baseball will be in full swing (no pun intended) I attended a basketball game last week out at ACCS and it was almost like being on the Bulletin Board, even Johnny Lee Hoffpauir showed up, it was funny to hear him saying "lol, lol, lol" I think he's been online too much lately, he never called Martha by her name, he kept calling her "M" Anyway, we fun and hoff & M finally got to meet.

Last weeks main trivia question was answered by Penny Daggett, the reason I'm mentioning her is, she kept e-mailing me answers one by one off of that Cathedral team until she finally got it! Congratulations Penny! That was fun.

Also, the trivia answer of Billy Martin that shows that Joey Martin was the winner....there's no relation between the two.

Deer season is over with guns, unless you count muzzle loaders. But the vast majority have started rummaging around their closets looking for their fishing gear. There'll be some Turkey hunters lurking through the woods pretty soon, but they just don't have the numbers as do the deer hunters. Good Luck Turkey guys & gals and if you knock one down, let me know about it.

Last week was full for Redneck Adventures, we hunted with dogs last Tuesday out at Kingston and I harvested a doe on film, it was flying through the woods with its belly scraping the ground, I hit with the 1st & 2nd shots, finally, some more meat for the freezer! On Wednesday we went over to the Red River WMA outside of Deer Park and hunted Woodcocks, we had 16 flushes and got 6 birds, these things fly faster than any bird I've ever hunted! Friday we headed to Jennings, LA and went on a Goose hunt, we picked up 6 birds on Friday evening and 17 on Saturday morning, they were a mix of Snow Geese and Speckled Bellies. We're going on a Coot Shoot sometime this week over around Monterey, LA....the place we'll be going is loaded with them!

Hey! Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

Name the school which defeated the Block Lady Bears for the Class 2A state championship in 1987. Answer: Zwolle. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Bo Jackson was rated as the No. 4 top recruit in Alabama his senior year in high school. Who was No. 1? Answer: Alan Evans. Winner: Joey Martin.

Name the former college assistant football coach who was responsible for moving Jack Tatum from running back to defensive back at Ohio State. Answer: Lou Holtz. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Finally, I had a weekend that I didn't have to go anywhere! I helped Lisa clean the house up on Saturday and that was pretty much it! I did attend the ACCS/Parklane games last Friday night and they were two doozies! Girls lost and the boys won, but they were both really close games.

I talked with ACCS baseball coach Gill Morris and he took his son Jamie and David Trisler over to Meridian C.C. for a baseball camp, he said there were several other schools and scouts in attendance for the workout. It's always good to get players in front of as many eyes as possible if they have any idea of playing at the next level.

I'll probably be out at ACCS a good bit this week as they are hosting the District Tournament in Basketball. Should be some good games to watch and find out who will make it to South State...which will also be held at ACCS next week. Good Luck to the area teams involved!

Joey's Trivia did get tougher last week, only one correct answer! I can just see that evil grin on Joey's face as he reads this!

Today's the last day of Deer season and with what I'm hearing outside as I'm typing this, there may not be many hunters in the woods, rain and muzzleloaders have just never really gotten along. Rabbit hunters will be flocking to the woods starting tomorrow as now they will have the rights to all the deer hunting land they can get their hands on. Ya'll be safe out there, you have a whole month to get those waskly wabbits!

Christopher got some papers in the mail from the Padres and guess what? He got a raise!!!!! Of course, so did everybody else but, it's still more money! He heads to Peoria on the 4th of March for pitchers and catchers and the rest of the players will show up about a week later. Spring Training will last for 30 days and them he'll get assigned to a team. More than likely, he'll be headed to Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Well, I'll catch ya'll on the Board and as always...ya'll have a great week!

Who won the Golden Helmet Award as MVP for the Trinity football team in 1988? Answer: Barnett Serio. Winner: Matt Mason.

Bonus Questions

Who was the last player to lead a league in RBI's while hitting less than ten home runs? Answer: Dixie Walker. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Name the Mississippi State Bulldog who finished the highest ever in the Heisman Trophy voting. Answer: Tom Shorty McWilliams was 10th in 1944. Winner: Matt Mason.

Pretty good Duper Bowl, much better than a blow-out but, you could tell that Donovan McNabb wasn't playing his normal game. He forced too many passes that he normally doesn't make. But anytime this game ends up with only a 3 point difference, I'm happy. Maybe with this game behind him now, McNabb will know how to handle the situation....if he ever gets back to it again.

I enjoyed watching the District Basketball Tournament last week out at ACCS and I'm looking forward to AC hosting South State this week. The AC Boys and Girls both won the District Crown. Things will kick off tomorrow with Copiah vs. Trinity girls at 4pm, Bowling Green vs. Copiah boys at 5:15pm, Bowling Green vs. Central Hinds girls at 6:30pm and Brookhaven vs. Central Hinds boys at 7:45pm.

AC girls first game will be on Wednesday against Silliman at 6;30pm and the AC boys will play Trinity at 7:45pm.

Christopher went to Meridian C.C. this past Saturday for the Annual Green & White game, an inner-squad game for parents to meet each other and the team. They had an Alumni Home-Run Derby contest and Christopher entered.....I know, he's a pitcher and it showed! He didn't hit any out. But he got to catch up on ole times with some of his former teammates anyway.

Redneck Adventures filmed a show with the Single Action Shooters Society on Saturday, they had about six stages to shoot from and at every stage, you are required to shoot series of specific targets with a pistol, a shotgun and a rifle.....remember, they're all single action, and you shoot for time. They let me take a crack at it and I busted the first two rounds with the shotgun at two pistol targets, that was wrong so, we started over and I hit every target! I didn't have a real fast time but, it was fun anyways. On Sunday, we traveled to Woodlawn Hunting Club for a Hog Catching, we got on one hog but, they said that that particular hog took aerobics, and we never could catch up to him.

We'll be having our Annual Squirrel Hunt this weekend, it's the biggest event we put on and it's always a blast. We'll even take a few guest on a Rabbit Hunt on Friday, Glenn Carroll does a great job of getting us on some rabbits and the tales after each drive make for some great footage. I'm not saying that there's any lying involved, I'm telling you that it is!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

Who holds the record for most consecutive wins by a Mississippi football coach? Answer: Picayune George Washington Carver, had 64 (64-0-0), 1958-65. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Who is the Yankee team record holder for hitting the most Grand Slams? Answer: Don Mattingly, with a total of 6 Grand Slams. Winner: Joey Martin.

Name the first athlete to hit a major league home run and score a professional football touchdown in the same week. Answer: Jim Thorpe in 1917. Winner: Jay Gousset.

I may have seen one of the most competitive basketball games ever last week, the ACCS/Trinity boys game was everything that it was suppose to be, come play-off time! The crowds were yelling, the cheerleaders were blasting and great ball was played between cross-town rivals.....a great atmosphere! The TE boys came out on top in the end and earned a spot at State by placing 2nd at South State. The TE girls will also play at State, these girls have stepped it up a notch during post-season play and deserve the opportunity. The AC girls finished 2nd at South State and will play in the State Championship. Brookhaven Academy will be the host for the AA State Tournament, if you get the chance to get over there, you'll find that they do a fantastic job.

Baseball season is just around the corner and there'll be several pre-season tournaments starting for those of you that have the baseball bug. I believe that Silliman has one this week and it'll have some local flavor to it with ACCS in the contest.

Christopher talked to one of his former team-mates yesterday, they played Pensacola C.C. in a double-header and beat them both games! We had heard that Pensacola was loaded too! So that means that the Eagles must be pretty salty themselves!

I've added a lot of schedules to the page here and if you don't see your favorite team on here, please e-mail me their schedules so I can post them on here.

Joey almost got a sweep in the Trivia contest but, an end of week e-mail crushed his chances.

I enjoyed the Pro Bowl last night but, I enjoyed the Skills competition before the game even better. This seems to be getting better every year. Peyton Manning won the MVP with his 3 TD passes.

Redneck Adventures put on out annual Squirrel Hunt this past weekend, it started really on Friday with a Rabbit hunt just outside Woodville, MS with Glenn Carroll & Co., the rabbits weren't moving as good as last year but, we all still had a great time. Saturday morning the hunt started with several professional squirrel hunters involved. I believe the count came in at the days end with around 189 squirrels, 2 coons and a rabbit!

I'm headed out this morning down below Jennings, LA for a conservation Goose hunt, we can only shoot Blues and Snow but, there ain't no limit! Plus, we can uncork our guns and load'em to the max! Should be a fun time and I'll have more on this when I get back.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll when I get back!

Ferriday's girls basketball team won its first-ever playoff game in 1989. Who did they beat? Answer: Grant. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Mike Piazza has finished second in the NL MVP voting two years in a row, who was the last NL player to also do this? Answer: Albert Pujols. Winner: John L. Sullivan.

Who was the first person ever to be struck out by Nolan Ryan? Answer: Pat Jarvis. Winner: John L. Sullivan.

Not a good weekend for me, I went home Friday at lunch with a really bad cough, I finally got some "Good" medicine Saturday morning and have been taking it every since. It's somewhat better now but, I hate sitting at home! All I could do was read the papers to find out what all was going on. AC Baseball played in some scrimmage games, they tied one and lost one and they'll kick off their season opener Tuesday in the Central Private Tournament. I read where Cathedral took home some wins in their tourny this past weekend and their offense looks like it's going to be strong again this year. Vidalia chocked up some W's as well, never count out what Hoffpauir has up his sleeve! I haven't heard anything on Natchez High or Trinity. I did manage to get out of the house on Saturday evening to run get something to eat, i was getting stir crazy just sitting at the house for 2 days and we passed by Chester Willis Field and saw some of the action, boy did I want to stop and watch! But I knew I had better stay out of the cool air....it's early anyways and I'll get my fill.

Friday while sitting at the house, I read Jose Canseco's new book, "Juiced" I read it in 5 hours (I told ya'll I was bored) after I read it, I now know that Jose is pretty much a qualified lunatic! This guy is promoting steroids! He talks like it's OK if you use them correctly. The book is a good read and I'm sure after reading what all he says about the other players and the media, he'll never make it to the Hall of Fame.

I read the MPSA Pre-Season Baseball Polls and they have ACCS ranked #5 overall. Simpson came in at #1, Prep at #2, Central Private at #3 and Hillcrest at #5. Central Private will win it all in AAA, Simpson & AC will have to battle for the #1 spot in AA. Of course that's just my opinion.

Congratulations to the AC & Trinity teams that played at the State Tournament, you made us all proud and believe me, there are those out there that still say, "What if Natchez only had one private school, they'd be unbeatable." I know there are many other area's that could say the same thing but, it would be a powerhouse.

Plenty of baseball and softball around the Miss-Lou, get out and support your team and also, get out and see some of the other teams from around here, we have some great talent laden around here.

I'll be heading out Thursday for Canton, MS, the Wildlife MS. Outdoor Show is this weekend and redneck Adventures will have a booth there to promote our show, if you get the chance, travel up to Canton, now's the best time to get a bargain on hunting stuff for next year!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

In the 1988-89 school year, this ACCS football, basketball and baseball player was also valedictorian. Name him. Answer: Chris Newman. Winner: Mike Smith.

Bonus Questions

What was the baseball franchise move of the 1950s? Answer: Boston Braves move to Milwaukee. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Who was the Houston Astros' first .300 hitter? Answer: Rusty Staub. Winner: Adam Daigle.

I was out this past weekend, up at the MS. Fish & Wildlife Expo in Canton, MS and I never saw a paper or got the chance to buy a copy to find out the results of the MPSA Overall's. So I got home and grabbed the paper to find out.....all that it had was the Pillow girls winning, it said that the boys game was too late to get to print! So I logged on to the Bulletin Board to find out who won, and there was ole proud tom's post about MRA winning it all. I really appreciate all the scores he has posted during the season...great job!

While most would have thought that Cathedral baseball would have been down after losing so many players to graduation last year, they have already shown a lot of promise for this year. Knocking off Brookhaven in any year is a feat that ANY Greenwave team could be proud of! Keep it going guys.

Congrats to Coach Mason and the Trinity Baseball team on collecting your first win last week over Tallulah, I'm sure there'll be many more to come.

Christopher was at the Rush Invitational at Meridian C.C. this past weekend and MCC swept all of their games. They look to be a force again this year in the JUCO ranks.

Redneck Adventures will be busy the next couple of weeks, we have the MS. Wildlife Spring Show in Jackson this weekend at the Trade Mart and next weekend, we'll be at the LA. Sportsman's Show in New Orleans from Wednesday through Sunday. We'll leave Sunday and head to Leeville, LA to fish with the folks from www.HowtoTalkDog.com on Monday and then fish with Bohn Automotive on Monday night and Tuesday.

I hope to get out this week and watch some baseball and softball around the area, we have some talented athlete's around here and I want to see them all perform.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

In 1980, Cathedral's football team upset Class B No. 1 Raymond 14-12. Who was the combination for the deciding touchdown pass? Answer: Michael Garcia and Jim Ferguson. Winner: Walt Brown.

Bonus Questions

Who holds the record for highest batting average during the SEC Baseball Tournament? Answer: David Magadan of Alabama hit .909 (10-11) in 1983. Winner: Joey Martin.

What was the first baseball team to regularly wear white baseball shoes? Answer: Kansas City A's. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

I had a lot of responses to the first Trivia Bonus Question, but it was not the Oakland A's, it pre-dated them back to Kansa City! I know that's getting pretty technical but, Joey wouldn't allow me to let it fly without it being exactly correct.

Christopher boarded the airplane in Baton Rouge last Friday morning at 6am, there was some fog laying low and they said that the flight might be delayed a few minutes......I got a call from him at 8:30am, he said he was still sitting in the plane in Baton Rouge! At least he had taken the Jose Canseco book "Juiced" with him to read along the way because he would have been livid! Anyway, I got another call form him at 2:30pm and he was in Phoenix waiting on his luggage to come out. He called again on Saturday to tell me that he saw a game between the Padres and Mariners (they share the same Spring Training facilities) and he got to see all the Major League teams in action. He also told me last night that they work out together in the training room and that their all just normal guys. Christopher said that he was talking once with some of the guys from last year when Jake Peavy came over and asked him where he was from, he heard his accent and that caught his attention. They had a good laugh because Jake's a southern boy also. Christopher said that he hasn't been doing anything but working out, running and long tossing but that today, he'll throw in the bull-pen.

I read in the paper this morning about Vidalia's ace pitcher Brett Hinson maybe having shoulder problems, I hope it is just some cartilage and that we'll be seeing him back out on the mound real soon.

We have one regional team still playing basketball, the Franklin County Bulldogs are in the Semi's and play today in the MS. Coliseum in Jackson. Good luck to ya'll and I hope that ya'll bring that big gold ball back to Meadville!

I guess everybody that reads the Bulletin Board is waiting for me to explain, WHY I missed the ACCS Beauty Pageant last Friday night. It's an excuse but, not a good one! Months back (before Morgan even thought about entering the pageant) redneck Adventures was contracted by the MS. Wildlife Federation to exhibit for their first time Spring Outdoor Show. They were opening the doors on Saturday morning to the public so, we had to set up Friday evening. Well I felt really bad that I would miss Morgan in her Senior year during the pageant but, I knew that it was being filmed and that I would have to edit the tape and make copies for those that wanted them. So I knew I'd at least get to view the event. Well things went from feeling bad to feeling like a low down dirty dog when I received the phone call from over elated wife, telling me that our daughter had won! I haven't even read the Bulletin Board as I type this but, Morgan called me yesterday and pretty much told me that a sorry individual was rubbing it in pretty bad! I won't call him out here but I will give you his initials, they are: Gill Morris! So since I was at an outdoor show and there's always something for the ladies at these events, I brought Morgan home some pity gifts. I can't wait to see the video, I always knew she was the prettiest girl in the world anyway!

Redneck Adventures will be in  booth from Wednesday through Sunday in the Big Easy for the La. Sportsman's Show in the Superdome, they had over 95,000 attend this show last year and are expecting more this year. We'll head over to Leeville, LA on Sunday evening to go bow-fishing with Marsh Masters and Bohn Automotive on Monday night.

I won't update in here again until probably next Wednesday morning, so until then, ya'll have a great week and get out there and watch some baseball and softball action around the Miss-Lou!

3/16/05

I don't know what happened to last week's trivia questions, I've lost them somewhere...oh well, Eddie probably got them all anyways!

Being gone all last week has me out of the loop about the goings on in Miss-Lou area sports but, I do have some news that I got from Christopher. Instead of just throwing a pen (like they've been doing since he got there) they let them throw to batters, each batter got 7 cuts and the pitcher had to tell them what was coming.... Christopher said they still had trouble hitting him. I talked to him last night and he threw one inning of an inner-squad, the first guy hit a grounder to the 2nd baseman and he bobbled it, the next batter took a full swing and got just enough of it to dribble it out in front of him, Christopher picked it up and threw him out at first. The next batter hit it to the short-stop and he let it go between his legs. The next batter got a hit up the middle scoring a run. The next batter hit into a double play to end the inning. So he gave up one hit, one run scored with 2 big fat E's... but he only threw one called ball in the outing! We'll be flying out there to see him on the 25th of this month, the major league teams will be playing on two of the nights we'll be there at home and we'll get to see those as well. He said it's already around 85 degrees out there now but the night games that are coming will help out a lot.

I spent all of last week at the Louisiana Sportsmen's Show in New Orleans. What a show they put on down there! Tons of people and all kind of new gadgets for hunting and fishing. If you've never been to it, you need to make plans for next year....you won't be disappointed!

Monday night we had a great time bow-fishing with Marsh Masters Guide Service, Donnie Bohn of Bohn Automotive and his two buddies, Rookie and Whitey. The tide was really out and it made finding water to shoot in difficult but, we managed to get enough fish for them to take back home for a good fish fry!

It's Spring Break for some of the area schools and sports are still being played, alot of tournament ball going on and ya'll need to get out there and give your team some support.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

In 1980, North Natchez upset South Natchez 8-3 in football. The Colonels attempted a pass to the Ram 10-yard line from Bubba Griffey to Dean Brown that was broken up, but brought a storm of protest from SN coach Ed Reed for pass interference, ending up with the Colonel bench being penalized 45 yards. Who was the NN player who broke up the pass? Answer: Elton Ford. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Who participated in the first college basketball to be televised (don't know if Vitale did it)? Answer: In 1940 Fordham played the University of Pittsburgh in college basketball at Madison Square and it was telecast by one station in New York City. Pitt won. Winner: Joey Martin.

Who participated in the first spring training baseball game with replacement players? Answer: In 1995, because of baseball's labor problems, the first spring training game with replacement players was held between the California Angels and Arizona State. Winner: Joey Martin.

Wow! Joey gets his first sweep in quite awhile. Was it because he gave such tough questions? or was everybody just too lazy to try and find out? Whatever the reason, I know Joey is smiling!

I watched alot of baseball this past weekend and it started with the ACCS vs. Oak Forest game, the Rebels played a sloppy game and came out with the "W", much in thanks to a 3 run blast in the bottom of the 7th by Cole Bradford to end the game. I traveled over to Vidalia Saturday morning and watched Tecumseh vs. Hobart, both teams were from Oklahoma and Tecumseh edged out the win late in the game. next up was Vidalia vs. Hobart and the Vikings took this one in hand and ran away easily. Then I saw Cathedral take on Monterey, Monterey had an underneath thrower on the mound and it messed up the Green Wave batters the first time through the rotation but, when they came back through, it all changed and they put this game way. There is so much young talent in our area, baseball will be fun to watch the next few years!

The NCAA Basketball tournament has got to be the most unusual ever, with lower seeds knocking off the big boys, it's going to be a fun year to learn about all these underdogs that we probably never ever heard much about in the past!

Christopher pitched last Friday evening to the Padres High A team, he got the start and went 3 up and 3 down the first inning and he hit the first batter in the leg in the 2nd inning, gave up one hit and grounded out the rest with no runs scoring. He pitches again today against the Giants A team. I'll let ya'll know how he did on the Bulletin Board.

I had asked Johnny Lee Hoffpauir about Jarret and he said that they'll start this week playing games, so check the Board for any updates on him.

We'll be flying out to Phoenix on Friday and we'll return on Tuesday. We'll get to see Christopher pitch if the rotation works out right, plus we'll get to see a couple of the MLB Spring games as well. So I won't update again until I get back in the office on Wednesday morning.

If you're a coach, I'd like to start something back up that we used to do awhile back, send me your coaches reports by e-mail, just a short summation about each game that your team played. Everyone used to look forward to hearing the coaches side of the games.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board before I leave on Friday!

This senior led Trinity in rushing and interceptions in 1993 (get out the yearbook Matt). Name him. Answer: Brant Ratcliffe. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

In 1971, what Phillies pitcher tossed a no-hitter and hit two home runs in the same game? Answer: Rick Wise. Winner: Cathy Wilson.

What pitcher once struck out four batters in one inning, then two years later threw four wild pitches in one inning? Answer: Phil Niekro. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

It sure seems like I've been gone longer than 5 days! As luck would have it, Christopher pitched Friday and we didn't get there in time to see it but, it was his worse performance yet. He pitched into the 3rd inning and walked 5 batters. He said that in the first inning, he went 3 up, 3 down with 2 K's. When he came back in the 2nd inning, he said the Ump squeezed him. He said that he really thought he was putting the ball in the strike zone and was just getting shafted! The good part is that he didn't allow any runners to score and only gave up one hit. He left in the 3rd because of his pitch count.

While we were there, we got to see the Padres play the Diamondbacks on Saturday, it got ugly early as the Padres #4 or #5 predicted rotation pitcher (May) gave up 8 runs on 9 hits in the first inning and was jerked from the game with only 2 outs in the 1st. Next we saw the Padres play the Royals and this one must have been a split squad game as we didn't see as many big names as the game before.

When the Padres have somebody that might be struggling at the plate, they send them to the AAA game and let them bat 3rd, every inning! So we got to see 2 pro's bat against the AAA pitchers, Xavier Nady could flat out RIP!!!!!!!! Phil Nevin on the other hand, needed to get his practice in at the local high school, he looked awful at the plate.

Christopher said that he thought that the team would announce today, where each player will be heading. He's not feeling good about his chances of making the Fort Wayne team as he has it figured out that he knows of 4 staring pitchers that will go there regardless. Players that are later in years and have to perform to stay in baseball. So he's hoping that maybe he won't stay in Peoria too long before he will get called up to Fort Wayne. He's not happy with the thought of extended season in Peoria, the weather is just to dang hot! Of course, the weather wasn't bad when we were there, as a matter of fact, it was cool at night and in the mornings so, at least he won't have those 115 degree days for to long!

I know that all I've wrote about today is about our trip but, that's all I covered this past week. I'll have more on the local scene next week. Until then, ya'll have a great week!

Cathedral's Lawrence Alwood thought he had a home run against North Pike in a 1991 baseball game, but the home run was taken away when the umpire called a no-pitch before the hit because one of Alwood's teammates was out of the dugout. Name that teammate. Answer: Brian Stevens. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

In 1971, the Boston Patriots became the New England Patriots. The team had been founded in 1959 as a charter member of the American Football League. Who was the first head coach of the Patriots in its initial AFL season? Answer: Lou Saban. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Who is credited with originating the curve ball? Answer: William Candy Cummings. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

I only got to see a couple of games last week and they were both out at ACCS, a double header with Columbia and Parklane. The first game almost saw the Rebels give it away in the 7th inning when Columbia took the lead by one but, a Timmy Foster 2 run blast ended the game. In the second game, it looked like the Rebels were going to do the same thing again with Parklane but they managed to hang on for the win. Timmy Foster was like 7 for 9 in the two games with 4 dingers! I bet he makes the Top Performers this week in the Clarion Ledger!

Columbia had played Trinity the night before and took a win from the Saints and Parklane had played Trinity before they came over to ACCS, Trinity had a a lead at one point in the contest but just couldn't hang onto it.

I saw where Cathedral picked up a win and with Preston Hicks back on the mound, he'd been suffering from a bad ankle injury plus I believe another injury as well, I know that Coach Beesley has to be happy to get another arm back on the mound for the Green Wave!

I watched the first official MLB baseball game last night and Randy Johnson doesn't pitch like he's over 40! The Yankees won this one easily. David Wells does pitch like he's over 40! With acquisitions that the Yankees picked up, they are far more stronger than they were last year!

Christopher gets to come home for 2 days! He'll be home late Wednesday night and will leave late Friday night. After all that he's been through...mentally, he needs to come home! Maybe some time at home will give me a better outlook. He pitched again the other day and did extremely well again. No hits, no walks and no runs in 3 innings of work.

I got a report about Nook Logan and it wasn't very good, at one point he was on an  0 for 20 streak with one SAC, they are keeping 4 outfielders on the roster and it's between Nook and one other guy, and the bad news is that the other guy, they have 9 million invested in him! I did hear that Nook got a hit later on but, I'm not sure if that will be enough to keep him in the dugout.

I'm headed to Buras, LA tomorrow to Lamberts Lodge, they're bring in over 30 servicemen that fought in Iraq. We'll be doing a show with them on Wednesday. Thursday, we'll be doing a show with Capt. John L. Taylor and the "How To Talk Dog" guys will be with us for the event. Should be alot of fun with the dogs going to get us minnows and bringing us drinks from the cooler.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

In a 14-0 win over Trinity in 1991, this player had his first home run - a grand slam. Name him. (thanks to Rush) Answer: Jeff Rymer. Winner: Mike Smith.

In 1994, the Milwaukee Brewers traded Gary Sheffield to the San Diego Padres for a pitcher. Since then, Sheffield has played for the Padres, the Marlins, the Dodgers, the Braves, and now the Yankees. He has 415 career home runs and a batting average of .298. Name the pitcher. Answer: Ricky Bones. Winner: Jason Munz.

Who led the Boston Braves pitching staff in 1911 with a record of 7-18? Answer: Buster Brown. Winner: Charlie Mascagni.

As you can tell by this week's Quote at the top of the page, I'm in the golfing mode! I watched as much of the Masters as possible this past week. Although the rain dampened (no pun intended) my opportunity some, I still managed to get my fix! What a tournament it turned out to be with a play-off at the end. But it only took one extra hole to decide the outcome and Tiger got his 4th Green Jacket by defeating Chris Demarco on Sunday. I guess all the speculation about Tiger getting married, using a new swing and whatever else the media has been throwing at him has finally quieted them down now. But the highlight of the tournament had to be Tiger's chip in on the 16th hole, an  impossible shot to even get it close! He nailed it!!!! Of course the 15 plus foot putt on the play-off hole wasn't too shabby either!

Local baseball in the Miss-Lou is looking pretty good for the majority, AC beat Central Hinds last week in a conference game, Cathedral eased by St. AL to clinch the conference title, Natchez High got some wins over Forest Hill, Trinity beat Copiah and Vidalia almost upset 6th ranked 4A Pineville, losing 3-2. We've got some great talent around here and alot of it is young, so next year will be as much fun to watch as this year!

What a feeling I had last week, Redneck Adventures was invited down to Buras, LA to film a show that involved Army servicemen that just got back from Iraq. 27 in all and some haven't even been home yet! Cajun Fishing Adventures was the host and Southwest Airlines flew them all to New Orleans for FREE! Nicole's Limo Service delivered them to Buras for FREE! And they were treated like royalty. These guys had a blast, when we arrived the first evening, they were all swimming and hot-tubbing and if you were dry, you got thrown in the pool, the only thing that saved me was the fact that I had a camera on me filming their escapades. The weather didn't let us fish long on Wednesday but, we still managed to get a few fish on film with these guys. They presented Jim Bob & I with caps and t-shirts to remember this occasion with them. They know that they'll have at least 18 month back in the State before they go back and hopefully, it'll be over by then!

Thursday we fished with Capt. John L. Taylor and the "How To Talk Dog" guys, with the wind blowing anywhere from 15 to 25 mph, it was pretty difficult to find any fish but, Capt. John L. had a few trick up his sleeve and we got several nice reds, a few specs, some drum and some flounder with one of them being a full two-sided one!

Christopher got to fly home for a couple of days so I got to visit with him when I got home Thursday and before he left Friday evening, he's suppose to pitch Tuesday, they just started their games back up yesterday. Hopefully, he can move up quickly and get somewhere closer for us so we can watch him more.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

Who were the Metro Boys and Girls Players of the Year in basketball in 1989-90? One is from Natchez High and the other from ACCS. Answer: Johnnie Franklin of Natchez and Terry Mason of ACCS. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

What team ended the Chicago Bulls' 44-game home winning streak in 1996? Answer: The Charlotte Hornets. Winner: Brandon Gousset.

Who had an ERA of 1.12 while pitching over 300 innings in one season? Answer: Bob Gibson. Winner: Adam Daigle.

I did receive half of the main trivia question answered correctly, but that doesn't count so I Joey got the credit for stumping everybody.

I saw a couple of games last week, Cathedral hosted Vidalia and since this is old news, ya'll know the outcome. But I do have something that I'd like to add to this......Anything can happen to any team on a given night and it happened to Cathedral on this one, Vidalia came out hitting and so did Cathedral but, the Vikings bats stayed hot while the Green Waves didn't! Sometimes hitting becomes contagious and it seems that everybody is on fire. Cathedral made some pivotal errors and sometimes THAT can become contagious as well. This wasn't the Cathedral team that we're used to seeing, it just wasn't their night and in baseball, that just happens! Now I'm not taking anything away from Vidalia, they were soooo disciplined at the plate that night and they took advantage of every opportunity that came their way. These are two very strong ball teams and we should expect to see each of them fair well come play-off time.

The highly anticipated re-match between ACCS and Prairie View didn't seem like it was going to be much of a game after the Rebels went up 6-1 late in the game but, the feisty Prairie View crew battled back and got an extra run and then connected on a grand slam to tie the game in the top of the 7th inning. AC had to win this game by at least 2 runs to claim the division lead because of runs allowed by other opponents. So this was not good, the only way that AC could do this was by hitting at least a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 7th. So Dustin Case leads off with a double, they intentionally walk Cole Bradford to get a force and up steps Timmy Foster and he parks one out to win by 3 runs and take the lead in the standings. Now here's the strange part, had the PV coach had just intentionally walked two more batters, they would have lost by one run but still claimed the advantage in the play-offs! Go figure. ACCS still has one district game left to play and they'll play it today as they host Copiah.

Trinity can't make the play-offs this year but, Coach Mason did an excellent job with the young talent he has, look out for this bunch next year as the needed experience will pay off for them down the stretch!

Not much I can say about Natchez High, I only caught one game and it looks like they may be getting better but still have a ways to go to compete at the 5A level. They just don't seem to be getting all the athletes out to play the game. I may be wrong and I hope to see them come back to the dominance they used to carry.

It's been a difficult week for me and my family, we have been on the phone with Christopher a lot!!!!! Things have changed for him as far as baseball goes, he told us that he just hasn't had his heart in the game for quite some time. He had been holding it in because he didn't want to let so many people down. He's just not happy and said that playing baseball isn't what he wants to do. He's been thinking more about going back to school and getting his degree and getting on with is life. I know that there will be people that think he's crazy for walking away from the game but, he said that most won't understand, that if they felt the way he did, then maybe they would. Although I am disappointed at his decision, I have to stand behind him, I don't know how he feels because I've never lived it. But as long as he comes back home and gets his education, then I'll be happy. Making the Major Leagues is very hard and even sometimes lucky! I guess he could have played in the minors for 4 or 5 years and then got sent home and still have to go back to school at age 25 or 26? Well regardless, he'll be headed back home soon and I just hope that enough people read this and understand his situation and don't hound him about 'Why he left the game." He really needs ya'lls support now more than ever!

I'll be headed out of town in the morning headed to Mexico to bass fish at Lake Guerrero with Lago Vista Lodge. We did a show with them last year and they have invited us back again this year. They told us that they've done a lot of upgrades since we were there, heck I thought it was nice then! We caught over 750 bass last year in 3 days, we're only going for two days this year because, 3 days will flat wear you out! We landed a 10 and a half pounder by 9:15am the first morning also!

I won't be back until late Friday evening so, I'll post all the correct answers to the trivia next Monday morning and maybe Joey can post his news on the Bulletin Board Wednesday.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll when I get back in!

I talked to Andrew Ellard yesterday at church and he told me that they don't play again until Friday...and it's a good thing since their arms are probably sore from all the swinging they did over the weekend! I don't know what the record is for most runs scored in a paly-off but, the Greenwave HAS to be close if they didn't break the record! Good Luck guys, keep connecting!

The Adams Christian Rebels play-off run is suppose to start this evening at Rebel Field against Brookhaven Academy in a best of three series. That is if the rain holds off! Game two will be tomorrow night in Brookhaven and a third game if necessary will be back at ACCS. Good Luck Rebels!

The Vidalia Viking finished the regular season with an impressive 22-5 mark! They start district play at home Thursday at 6pm against St. Frederick from Monroe. And as most of ya'll know, Louisiana has the best play-off system around...a 32 team single elimination tournament! ( Yes, I was being sarcastic!) Good Luck Vikings!

Well, my trip to Mexico was everything that it was cracked up to be yet again! We caught over 200 bass in the two days we were there, we caught a lot of what we called "peanuts", these were 1 to 2 lb. bass but, we caught several nice fish but, the best day was the last evening when we caught two 4 lbs., a 5 and a half, two sixers and an 8 pounder. There were some better fish caught by some of the guest at the lodge, we got to see some pictures of a 10 and a half and an 11 lb'er. The fish are coming off of the spawn which made the fishing a little harder but, we still had a blast and brought home some great footage for the show. Visit www.lagovistalodge.com and check out just hoe inexpensive it is to fish with these guys....it's only $695.00 for an all inclusive package for two days and they pick you up at the border!

Season Four of Redneck Adventures kicks off this week and we'll mostly be doing fishing and summertime stuff. If you don't get our show in your area, call your cable company and tell them you want it!

Sorry about not having any trivia last week but I'm sure Joey will have a tough one this week!

Also, check out Joey's News from last week, I just got it put up on his link....always good stuff!

I'll be here all week and I hope to make as many play-off games as possible, see ya'll at the park!

Who was the first pitcher aged 20 or younger to win 20 games in a season? Answer: Bob Feller. Winner: Joey Martin.

It took the Adams Christian baseball team all 3 games to overtake Brookhaven Academy to advance to the South State Championship series but, game 3 was a snoozer as the Rebels defeated BA soundly. AC will host game 1 of the South State series tomorrow against Silliman. Game two will be Thursday (pretty sure) at Silliman and game 3 (if needed) will be back at AC. Game times will be 6:30pm.

Cathedral had to wait an extra day before jumping all over Greenville St. Joe on Saturday, game 2 will be today at Chester Willis Field at 6pm. If necessary the Green Wave will have to return to Greenville for a game 3.

Vidalia will host Christian Life today at 5pm in round 2 of the play-offs. Christian Life will be a tough opponent for the Vikings, I'm sure this is a game that they would have liked to play a little further down the road but, #4 Vidalia does have a better ranking than #7 Christian Life!

Justin Comer, Jamie Rock, Wade Wiygul and Barry Iseminger won the Fortunato Golf Classic over the weekend with a two day total of 113.

Speaking of golf, I played in the LSU Friends and Alumni Tournament over at Panola C.C. last Thursday with my brother Gary and David Marchbanks, now I haven't been playing much lately and my two playing partners play once a year...in this tournament! We shot one under and the winning team shot 11 under. So we felt pretty good about our score with all things considered.

Joey Martin almost got the sweep on the trivia questions, if it hadn't been for Andrew messing it up for him! I had a lot of guesses on the main trivia and even some from guys that played on that team! So much for long term memory huh?

I'll be getting in all the games that I can today, I'll try and split time between the two today, catch AC tomorrow and then I'll be out the rest of the week. So I'll be making cell calls the rest of the week trying to find out what is going on!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Well, better late than ever! I spent the weekend over at Lake Lincoln State Park and I had a bad tire, so I waited until this morning to leave and take my travel trailer to Hammond, LA for repairs.

Congratulations to coach Gill Morris and his Rebel baseball squad on capturing the AA South State Title. They begin play today for the State Championship in a best of three series with Simpson Academy. They play there today and back here tomorrow, I believe game 3 will be Thursday (if necessary) back at Simpson. Good Luck Rebels!

Congratulations to Cathedral and Vidalia baseball teams on great seasons, it's always a huge accomplishment to even make it to the play-offs and ya'll should all be very proud!

Huntington is also playing for a State Championship today against a very tough Tunica Institute schools. Good Luck Hounds!

I'll be heading out tomorrow for Leeville, LA to film some shows, first one is with the folks from PSE Archery and then we're filming a show with Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco (sp?)

Redneck Adventures will be filming a show on Saturday at a four wheeler park between Sicily Island and Harrisonburg, LA, I believe it's called Catahoula Recreation Park, something like that anyway.....Ya'll load up the wheelers and meet us over there!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Name the MVP of the 1982 South Natchez track team. Answer: Wilson Brown. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Name the only pitcher to hit two grand slams in one game. Answer: Tony Cloninger of the Atlanta Braves. Winner: Brandon Gousset.

What team originally drafted Joe Theisman? Answer: Miami Dolphins. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Congratulations to ACCS baseball coach Gill Morris on yet another fine year! It took 3 games for defending State Champion Simpson Academy to claim this years title. The Rebels didn't go down easily and even gave Simpson their first 10 rule ruled game of the season. This makes the third time in 5 years with Morris at the helm that the Rebels have made the big dance. Although he has yet to win the highest of honors, there's not many that wouldn't love to exchange places with him! Great job and I'm sure he's looking forward to next year.

Huntington went 3 games with Tunica but fell short also. I watched this team early in the season and didn't give them much of a chance, but coach Mitch Ashmore is one that I knew better than to doubt, he has taken kids and molded them into ball players every year. Congratulation coach and to all the players that gave everything that they had! Watch out for this team next year, they're not losing much to graduation!

Can ya'll believe that school will be over so quickly this year? Alot of Seniors are already out and some have already held graduation. I'll be attending my last graduation this Friday night, at least the one's that involve my kids. I've heard about a so-called "Empty Nest Syndrome" It's something that I'm suppose to get when all my kids leave the house. I think I might like it for awhile, not sure but, I'm looking forward to trying it out!

Christopher will be coaching a 16-under select baseball team this summer with mostly local kids from the area, so I'll get to see some pretty good games this summer. I'm not sure what will be going on around town with the older kids and their schools. If anybody knows anything about them...let me know.

For those of you that still have a baseball or softball itch, get out and watch the area summer baseball & softball leagues. I still enjoy watching these games, the excitement level is at a high pitch and you never know, you may be watching the Nolan Ryan or Barry Bonds out there!

I was out last week and we had a great time down in Leeville, LA with Marsh Masters Guide Service, the first day we limited out on Red Snapper and landed about 6 or 8 Mangrove's, 3 Spanish Mac's, 2 Grouper and a 40 plus pound Cobia. That night we limited out on Redfish with our trusty bow and arrows and also put a few Drum and Sheep Head in the box. The next day we went out for Trout but, the wind was howling and the water was dirty, so we got back inland and went looking for Reds, not a great day for fishing but we angled a few on the boat and even caught a 50 lb. Drum...talk about a fight!

Be sure and check out Joey's News, I just updated it today. I got alot of correct answers on the trivia but...first answered gets the credit!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

This former ACCS Lady Rebel set a record in the discus at the state meet with a toss of 98 feet, 6 inches in 1978. Who was it? Answer: Babs Grey. Winner: Andrew Ketchings.

Bonus Questions

When Bob Watson scored the millionth run in 1975, who hit the home run to allow him to score and who did he run around the bases fast to beat for that honor? Answer: Milt May hit the home run and Watson scored  just before Dave Concepcion scored for the Cincinnati Reds. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Name the guy who coached one game for the Atlanta Braves in 1997. Answer: Ted Turner decided to take matters into his own hands and become the Braves' manager. He skippered the team for just one game. Bowie Kuhn, the commissioner of baseball, ruled that
an owner could not manage a team, so his career lasted just that single contest. The Braves lost 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Winner: Joey Martin.

I hardly ever know any of the trivia questions but...this week I knew two of them, but I did go to school with Babs Grey so that one was easy. The second one was the last one that wasn't answered, but then again, I'm a Braves fan, so maybe that's the only reason I remembered that one!

Well with school out for most of the area and no high school sports being played at all, there's not alot to talk about soooooo, I went to see a 16 & under baseball tournament this past Saturday in Vidalia. Now I know that I don't get to see as many summer league games as I used to since I got involved with Redneck Adventures but, my son coaches the team and I had to see how he did with these youngsters. It is the first weekend that they finally got to play and the Miss-Lou team has some great talent. They won their first game on Saturday morning against Neville's JV team, the team that was expected to be the best team there. They lost the next two games but were in both games until the end. They'll travel to Jefferson City, TN next weekend to play in a big tourney, best of luck to all of you guys!

I played in a golf tournament this past Saturday at Middle Fork C.C. located just this side of Meadville, MS. Eric Smith and I were a team in the Shamble Event, a Shamble is where you both hit your drive and then you pick the best drive and play out your ball from there and take the best score on the hole. We tied with 3 other teams for first place in first flight but, the scorecard playoff hole was selected as hole number 14 and since that was the only hole we bogeyed, we came in third!

The SEC baseball tournament starts this Wednesday in Hoover, AL and both Mississippi teams will be there, State lucked out by getting losses from at least two of the three teams that had tying records since they lost to LSU on Sunday. Ole Miss and LSU share the SEC West Title.

I'll be headed down to Buras, LA this Wednesday evening for some speckled trout fishing on Thursday. We'll be fishing with Capt. John L. Taylor and hopefully this time we'll get some good conditions. We've filmed with him two other times and the wind was howling so bad that it messed up the sound too bad to use. I did see that we have chances for rain on Thursday, I'm just hoping that it'll hold off til we get finished!

Sunday when we got home from church, we got a phone call from a friend that told us that Ryan Porter, a former ACCS Student/Athlete was involved in a car accident early Sunday morning. He was headed back to Hattiesburg from Jackson when his car left the road and flipped several times. He came away with a broken leg and a pretty messed up arm but, he's going to be OK. Luckily, he had his seat belt on and that probably saved his life. He was transported to University Hospital in Jackson.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

In 1998, Co-Lin's baseball team swept a doubleheader from Holmes Community College. In the second game, a Miss-Lou pitcher was the winning pitcher, while another Miss-Lou player got the save. Name both pitchers. The player who got the save also singled in both games. Answer: Joseph Paul and Bryan Rabb. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

Who did Henry Aaron single off of in 1970 to collect his 3,000th hit? Answer: Cincinnati's Wayne Simpson. Winner: Walt Brown.

Name the former SEC  player who was Collegiate Baseball's Player of the Year in 1995. Answer: Tennessee's Todd Helton. Winner: Jason Munz.

Talk about the little engine that could! Co-Lin Baseball Team is just that and more, they're still alive at the JUCO World Series after losing game 1 and coming back to win yesterday in 10 innings. They'll play again tonight.....Go get'em Wolves!!!

Miss. State, the #7 team in the SEC Tournament goes undefeated and claims yet another SEC Title over Ole Miss in the Championship game. But Ole Miss will host a regional and hopefully 2 rounds of the College World Series Tournament.

The Miss-Lou Select baseball team played this weekend in Jefferson City, TN against some awesome talent from all over the Southeast. And represent the Miss-Lou they did! They won 3 games and lost two, the latter by only 1 run in each game, their wins were all ugly as they won by the 10 run rule twice and the 15 run rule once.

Redneck Adventures traveled to Buras, LA last week and filmed a show Capt. John L. Taylor ( www.captjohnl.com ) and we had us two New Orleans Saints along for the trip. Middle Linebacker Colby Bockwoldt and new TE Mike Banks were two really fun guys to fish with, although they're both from way up north, they accustomed themselves to the saltwater rather quickly. The show we filmed with them will be on next week.

Although I received several guesses at the main trivia question, with most people getting Joseph Paul correctly, nobody could get both of the answer correctly...even Jason Munz, who just about named everybody on Co-Lin's roster!

Well, it's Memorial Day and I wish everybody a safe and happy holiday...see ya'll on the Board!

Who was the first batter Roger Clemens faced in his career? Answer: Brett Butler. Winner: Joey Martin.

Sorry that I'm posting late this week but......I've been out of town filming a show. We went over to Ellisville, MS and did a show at Adventure Lake. They built this 75 acre lake in 1998 and stocked it with F1 bass in 1999. The record so far in 13.4 lbs. and it was caught just this year. The lake has only been open for fishing for a year and 3 months and these are some aggressive fish! We caught mostly 3 and 4 lb'ers but got a few nicer ones, the best we caught was a 6 plus but, with the hotter weather and all the rain that's been hammering them over there, we thought we did real well. Check out their website at: www.adventurelake.com Nice accommodations and the food is fantastic!

All of the bigger local college teams made it to the Regional Baseball Play-offs but only one remains alive...Ole Miss. Now I'm not a huge Ole Miss fan or any other college for that matter do I hold allegiance too but, I will root for the Rebels during the Super Regional.

I really don't watch much NBA basketball, at least not until the Championship series but, I've watched the Miami Heat this year quite a few times and I thought they might make it to the big dance this year, of course I was wrong! But they're just one good player away from being a dominate force. Maybe they'll get somebody in the off-season and really shake things up next year.

I had a good conversation with newly acquired New Orleans Saints tight end Mike Banks, Mike played his first two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before being traded to the Saints this year. I asked him how he liked the Saints organization and he said, " I've really enjoyed it here so far, everybody has taken me in and made me feel right at home." I also asked him about coach Haslett and he told me, " Coach Mike is a real players coach, he comes in the locker room everyday after practice and small talks with the guys, no other coach does that, no other coach ever even come on the locker room after practice. I like him alot and it makes you want to play harder for him." Mike's just getting there and going through all the pre-season conditioning and learning the system, hopefully we'll get to see him in action come football season! Oh and by the way, his nickname is "Manimal" part man-part animal!

Hey, it's summer and I ain't got much else to talk about sooooo, I'll catch ya'll next week!

Who is the only player to pinch hit for Ted Williams? Answer: Carroll Hardy. Winner: Joey Martin.

Joey sweeps the trivia!!!!! although I didn't get many guesses this week, of course for some reason, it always slows down in here during the summer.

I caught some of the biggest Bream last week that I've ever seen, and they weren't hybrid's either! They were mostly Bluegills and some Chinquapin's, but they were massive! I caught them at a friends pond near Clinton, MS....I can't tell anybody exactly where because it's a secret and if the secret got out, people would poach, for some reason, some people just have it in them to poach!

I watched as Ole Miss blew probably their best chance ever in a long time to make it to the World Series of baseball. They had a great season but, I wonder what could have been if Van Pope and Ryan Hughes had not signed with the Majors and been added in that line-up, Hughes led JUCO Div. II in Homeruns with somewhere around 18 and Pope had around 15 in Div. I. Now that may not seem like many as compared to some of the stats in NCAA Div. I baseball but, they play many more games than JUCO does. Also, I wonder how Christopher would have performed their also, they already had a good pitching staff, I would have loved to been in that atmosphere though!

So for now, as far as watching my kid's play ball, I got to yesterday evening as Morgan's team won their first softball game! She's playing for Parkway Baptist Church and for you stat freaks...she went 2 for 3 at the plate.

I want to thank Walt Brown for his updates on the Bulletin Board about Nook Logan and how he's progressing in the Majors, it seems that Nook is settling down and doing pretty darn good! Nook also hit his first home-run last week. For those of you that have never met Nook, let me tell you one thing about him, he's always got a smile on his face and he's one of the most polite young men you'll run across! I wish him the very best of luck and look forward to seeing him to excel at his position.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Don Mincher, and Harmon Killebrew. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

I just got back in from spending the weekend over at Lake Lincoln, actually, I'ven been over there since last Wednesday evening, I had to make sure that I got a good space for the weekend with Fathers' Day being on Sunday. The place really packs out on occasions. Anyway, I decided I would go over to Wolf Hollow and play a round of gold on Thursday and when i got there, they were having a Co-Lin Foundation Scramble. They talked me into playing, they needed a 4th for one team, so I played......well my team comprised of Dr. Hal Garner, the President of Co-Lin, Billy Stewart, the new Dean at the new Co-Lin (Simpson Campus) and a Board member of Co-Lin. We shot a respectable 11 under for a total of 61 and our handicap total came to 53, which gave us first place!!!! Our team each got a trophy and door prizes were won by all participants as well as two good meals.

The U.S. Open was won by a foreigner!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but, I guess I just don't like an outsider coming in here and winning a title that has the name "U.S." on it! Although Michael Campbell seems like a pretty decent guy.....Tiger tried to make a charge but Campbell made sure to slam the door with a clutch birdie on the 17th hole.

Congrats to Dan Bland on winning the Beau Pre' Club Championship with a two day total of 69-76. By noticing the scores and knowing the caliber of some of these golfers, I'm guessing that the greens keeper and club pro made the course play pretty difficult than usual. Beau Pre' is just a gem of a course and if you haven't had the opportunity to play out there, you need to re-arrange your schedule and make the trip to play one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the South!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the Board!

Who drew five walks in one game on four separate occasions? Answer: Mel Ott. Winner: Joey Martin.

In 1979, who hit home runs in three consecutive pinch-hitting at bats for the Phillies? Answer: Del Unser. Winner: Joey Martin.

I guess the biggest news coming from last week was the hiring of Huntington School's new football coach....Chad Harkins, formally of Block High School out of Jonesville, LA. Coach Harkins really turned the program over while at Block and I'm sure that he will be missed by more than just some of his players. Coach Harkins runs a really tight mid-line offense and almost upset Ferriday a few years ago, when Ferriday was loaded! I'll be eagerly awaiting to watch these Hounds next year! Oh and Chad, if you're reading this, I wish you the best of luck and don't let what ANYBODY says rub you the wrong way, you have to do what's best for your family.

The Spurs won the NBA title and there was hardly a word about it on the Bulletin Board......Basketball just hasn't been the same since "MJ" retired!!!!!!!!

I watched the Miss-Lou Select team play on Friday night and they won 5-3 over a team comprised of Brookhaven Academy, Trinity and Wesson players....a really good game that saw the Miss-Lou team rally back for the win. The tournament was all weekend and I don't even know how it turned out as of this writing but...I'm betting that Eddie Brewer will have a re-cap on the Board.

OK, for the most important news and I saved it for last!!!!!!!!! Last Wednesday we went to my friends place over close to Clinton, MS and we filmed another Big Bream show for next year, just to have it in the can in case of an emergency. Then on Thursday we started shooting a bass show, we got several nice fish that first morning and as it heated up, we headed indoors. Well we ended up back outside on the porch around 4:30pm and I suggested that since we were outside, why not fish the deep water under that big ole shade tree over there! So off we went, we hadn't gotten settled in good when my buddy Allen had what looked like a 5 to 6 lb. bas on his worm! Before we could get the camera on it though, it was gone! Within a few minutes Jim Bob had a 6 to 7 lb, fish on and this one we got on film as he landed the monster. A few cast later and I've got a hog on the line and on film (the best of both worlds) I wrestle him to the bank and we got the scales on her....9.4 lbs.!!!!!!!!!!!!! My biggest ever and the weird thing was that it wasn't a Florida or hybrid bass, it was a regular ole Large Mouth or Northern as it's officially named. Not real common to catch a beast like this! And I'm getting her mounted!

Oh yeah, did ya'll want to see a picture of her? The Beast

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

The wife and I spent the weekend over at Lake Bruin State Park, just outside of St. Joe, LA, it's a beautiful park and while she sunbathed in the middle of the hottest part of the day....I watched tennis!....on TV!!! Oh well, there's only so many stations you can get on a travel trailer antenna, of course there was the Natural Cures infomercial but, I'd already seen it 3 times that same day so I was stuck with watching Venus beat Davenport. At least the air conditioner works really well in my RV! Finally it got to the afternoon times so I could watch golf...and no, I'm not kidding, I enjoy watching golf on TV. Jim Furyk broke out and finally won another tournament, it's been awhile since his last  one, I'm guessing a couple years or so. Tiger made a charge on Sunday but came up short....again! I'm waiting on the British Open now and look forward to sitting on the easy chair and taking in the whole tournament in, remember, it'll be on in the mornings...LIVE!!!!!

Yesterday I went out and played golf at Beau Pre' C.C., we had a big group and as always, the more the merrier! If you haven't played out there this golfing season, you need to get out there and play a few rounds, the course in excellent shape and is a challenge....as always!

Redneck Adventures is winding down on season #4 and re-runs will follow starting in a few more weeks, we just started airing Nationally on The Sportsman Channel, it's a cable only program, so you can't get it on satellite just yet and it's not on all the cable channels but, they are in 47 states and growing bigger and faster every year!

Did i mention that I caught a 9.4 lb. large mouth bass? hahaha

It's that time of year and there's not alot to talk about or update on so, I hope ya'll don't mind my ramblings about what all I've been doing lately.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya later!

Who was the first American League player to homer in his first at bat? Answer: Earl Averill. Winner: Joey Martin.

What baseball team started an all-rookie lineup on September 29, 1963? Answer: Houston. Winner: Joey Martin.

Joey Martin sweeps the trivia game! Although Eddie Brewer still claims that one of his answers is correct and that Joey doesn't know what he's talking about! So I explained that it's not whether the answer is correct or not, it's what Joey thinks is correct or not. Sometimes Joey just wants to get the sweep......Good job Joey!

The East Central baseball team is still alive and kicking in their District tournament, they'll play Northeast tonight in an elimination game.

The Natchez 12 yr. old baseball team is in the championship series starting tonight against the Brookhaven Americans and since Natchez is undefeated in the tournament, Brookhaven would have to beat Natchez twice to advance to State.

OK, how boring was I yesterday? I watched NASCAR on TV!!!!!!! Now I ain't knocking NASCAR because I have watched it live, and I enjoyed it very much but, watching it on TV is the equivalent of watching paint dry....unless there's a wreck!

I did go out and play golf on Saturday out at Beau Pre' C.C., we had a good group and although it was hot, it wasn't as hot as last Monday when I played. I think I finally got some things worked out in my swing but, it took 16 holes to figure it out!!!!! But in these large group games, they always need a few people to make donations to their favorite charities and I was obliged to pitch in.

Sorry I don't have a lot to talk about but, hopefully things will pick up around here that'll give me something to talk about.

Ya'll have a good week and I'll catch ya'll later!

In 1947, the year Keith caught his first fish, Natchez defeated Greenwood 19-7 in the Shrimp Bowl. Name the Greenwood coach who would go on to serve as AD at two SEC schools. Answer: Carl Maddox at MSU and LSU. Winner: JoJo Eidt.

Bonus Questions

Lou Brock was traded to the Cardinals for what pitcher? Answer:
Ernie Boglio. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

What former Boston Red Sox played in a World Series and a Rose Bowl game? Answer:
Jackie Jensen. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

Well, better late than never! I went out of town for the weekend and did some fishing with my wife at a friend of ours place up around Clinton, MS, we caught some fish and just had some good ole "R&R", well we got home on Sunday evening and my friend asked if I would go over to his hunting camp around Newellton, LA and help him fix up where a tree had fallen on his roof, he had carpenters and all but we just helped where we could, anyway, that's why I'm late writing this now!

Tiger Woods wins another Major and this one over in Jolly Ole England. I know a lot of people don't like to see him just rip apart golf courses but for some strange reason, I enjoy it! The critics had been saying that Tiger had lost his groove and although he kept telling them that he had been working on a new swing and that it was coming around, they just didn't believe him! Well after this years performances, I guess they'll shut-up and listen from now on! P.S. Didn't ya just love the commercial of him playing in the British Open when he looked to be about 6 years old?

OK, here we go, I got a complaint and I guess that Hollywood needs to listen to me!!! I watched Friday Night Lights, a good while back and what happened in the end? They LOST!......I watched Coach Carter a few weeks back and what happened? They LOST! So by now I'm pretty much getting tired of watching sports movies with bad endings so, I rented Million Dollar Baby last week and you'll never guess what happened.....She LOST and.................she died!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm pretty much fed up with Hollywood and their movies, what happened to movies like Hoosiers...they WON, The Natural....they WON, we could go on and on but, until Hollywood reads this and takes notice, we'll just have to see what they come up with next....I can see it now, a football player is about to score the winning touchdown to win the championship and when his foot hits the one yard line, he blows up!!!!!!!!!! Please don't get any ideas Hollywood, I was just kidding!!!!

All it takes is to mention that Joey is doing good at Trivia and people come out of the woodworks to make sure that all the questions get answered! After looking at this weeks trivia, I don't think they will all be answered!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

The Bill McKinney Memorial Men's City Golf Championship was held this past weekend at Duncan Park G.C. and this was one of the few that I haven't play in, I'll get back to that later but first let's talk about the real winners here! P.Z. Brewer wins another to go along with 2 other City Titles under his belt, P.Z. was a long-time resident of Natchez and always found time to make it out to the park to play a few rounds each year, you won't meet a nicer person or find anyone more enjoyable to play a round of gold with! Congratulation P.Z. My ole golfing bud Greg Brooking came in 2nd and he's won this title a few times himself! he tied with Pete Powell who's won this thing more than anybody, Pete lives out of town but has came back almost every year to play. I was helping move my son to Hattiesburg on Saturday so he could get ready for school, that's why I missed the tourny.

There' some great baseball being played right here in town! The 11 yr. old State Tournament is being held out at Duncan Park, get out there tonight for some great games to watch...plus out own Natchez team is doing great!

MPSA starts football practice today and while I'm sure that it will be in shorts and t-shirts, it'll mostly be fundamentals this week but, watch out for next week when they'll strap on the pads and start knocking heads! I'll want to travel around and catch some action for myself!

I'm leaving today, I'll be fishing with Waba Outdoors in Kenai, Alaska, we're suppose to fish for 4 days and I ain't got a clue about these fish we're going after! My buddy Big Al is going with me as Jim Bob is headed to New Orleans for the La. Ducks Unlimited State Convention...(It's a big deal) I'll be back next Sunday, so until then, just e-mail me the trivia answers and I'll post them when I get back.

Hopefully, Joey will just post his News on the Bulletin Board while I'm gone.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll when I get back home!

He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. Winner: Joey Martin.

Who did Johnny Unitas replace as starting quarterback for the Baltimore Colts? Answer: George Shaw. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

If this weeks quote is true....then I haven't been gone that long! What a blast I had in Alaska, the scenery is breathtaking and the air just smells cleaner and fresher...OK now the downside, EVERYTHING cost more!!!!!! I spent $2.29 on a bow of "Little Debbie" snack cakes! Now that's just ridiculous! And ya'll all know that I can put away a couple boxes a day, so that gets expensive. Here's an even better one, they produce and refine oil in Alaska and it cost at least .40 to .50 a gallon higher there! Go figure? Anyway, day one came and we went Sockeye Salmon fishing on the Upper Kenai River, we had a guide that rowed a boat against the current, now this may sound tiring but, these boats are designed just for this and it's really an easy task....for him, not me! We fishing out of the boat some and we pulled over and fly-fished some also, we picked up 8 fish and ate one on the side of the river, we had a grill and it was great! Day 2 we went fishing for King Salmon on the Lower Kenai River, this time we had a motor but it was only used to keep us moving at a snail's pace backwards to bounce our bait off the bottom. We were only allowed one fish a day and 2 a year so, we had to be sure that the one we kept was a good'un! We all got our fish that day. Day 3 got washed out due to rough seas, we were suppose to go Halibut fishing, so we toured around that day and went over to Homer, AK and did some sight-seeing, beautiful scenery there as well. Day 4 our last day and this day we flew out on a float plane and landed in an area not as large as a small creek! We got in boats and went to the Tuscantan River ( I know I misspelled it) and fished for Silver Salmon, we were allows 3 each and I had my 3 by 3pm and the plane wasn't to pick us up until 7pm....I messed up, shoulda thrown my last fish back and kept fishing! But what an experience just to go to Alaska and see some of the natural beauty, be sure and catch this show, I'll have it on this week.

I can't really update on any of the local sports action around here since I've been gone but, I do hear that a congrats goes out to the Natchez 11 yr. olds for winning State, best of luck at the World Series!!!!!

That dang Eddie Brewer, he's the only guy that can keep Joey from getting a sweep in the Trivia contest!

It shouldn't be long before the Bulletin Board starts getting cranked back up, football season is just around the corner and the smack will start, so if you're thin skinned, this might not be the best time to visit the Board!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Friday night is football night in the Miss-Lou!!!!!!!!!  A great Jamboree will take place with ACCS, Brookhaven Academy, Huntington and Trinity participating. I didn't even know about this until I read the paper last night, it's really good to see these teams get this put together.

There have been some scrimmages around involving local teams but since I wasn't in town to witness any, the best place to get the info is on the Bulletin Board.

I was at the MS. Wildlife Expo this past weekend standing in a booth, so I'm recovering from sore feet! It was a great show with what I would think was record breaking attendance. We get this weekend off from shows but, I'll be helping move my daughter into college up at Co-Lin and then we'll be at another show in Alexandria, LA...Binky Vines is the show promoter. If you're getting ready for the upcoming hunting seasons, you need to get out to one of the shows and gather up all them new gadgets! I'm still trying to find the invention where it shoots a deer for me while I'm still in the bed sleeping!

I know some of ya'll have already experienced the phenomenon known as "Empty Nest Syndrome" this is where all your kids are gone and it's just you and your spouse at home......and yes I know they come back but, I think I'm looking forward to this and it will start next week!

Name the first NFL player to wear eyeglasses in a game. Answer: Raymond Berry. Winner: Joey Martin.

Well there's not much I can tell ya'll that you haven't already read about on "The Board" but.....I will say something that I didn't see and it happens every year......people want to base a teams outcome on the year on a Jamboree score, guess what? Jamboree's tell you about as much about a team as their mascot does! No, I'm not knocking any mascots out there, what I'm saying is, It don't mean anything, coaches NEVER EVER show what they have in a Jamboree, too many scouts from the opposing teams there and nobody wants to show their hand before they get to play it out! heck some even don't show everything until a few games into the season, when this happens though, look out for a good season from this type of team! Real football is fixing to start and then you can start your comparisons about who beat who by how many but, remember, this don't always work out either! Best of luck to all the teams this year and here's hoping that the injury bug will fly over the Miss-Lou!

Someone ran a Poll not long ago about what is everybody tired of hearing about and guess what won? The Huntington Saga!!!! Well even I'm tired of reading all this junk now! Please give it a rest, if you ain't happy, go see a doctor, they got pills for just this sort of stuff! Recruiting will ALWAYS be a part of High School Football, As long as no rules are broken, there ain't much anybody can do about it! I've always said this and those that have heard me say it in the past can back me up......"If a kid WANTS to go to a certain school, send them there!!!!!!!!!!!! The key here is, they want to go to school, and if they're happier there, by all means they ought to learn more also!" Argue all you want but, this is MY opinion!

I had quite a few guesses on the Main Trivia, I graduated the same year as this football season and even I had forgotten about some of the guys on this team.....I'll admit that I had no idea that ole Pat Hall was the winner!

I spent the weekend over at Lake Lincoln, what a set-up, air conditioning, a couch, a huge Diet Dr. Pepper and The PGA on the TV. And what happens?????/ Overtime!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck, I don't even know who won the dang thing! As I'm writing this anyway!

I'll be attending the Big Boy's Outdoor Show in Alexandria, LA this weekend, Binky Vines is the promotor and has put together a good show, now all we need is for a bunch of people to show up!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll later!

Two straight weekends of football and I ain't seen a game yet! These confounded Outdoor Shows have kept me tied up from Thursday til Sunday and I got another one this weekend in Hattiesburg!!!!! But Lisa kept the papers for me so I got to at least read about all of the games. First off, anytime you beat a Bill Hurst coached Centreville team, consider it a feat because, it ain't gonna happen often! Congrats to ACCS and returning living legend  head coach Bobby Marks, I know Bobby's proud of his players and he's got a right to be by squeaking out a 10-2 win over the host Tigers! .....But next up for the Rebels is cross-town rival Trinity Episcopal coached by a former player of Bobby's in David King. Steven Ridley is bigger and and badder than last year and containing him is always tough for any opponent!

Speaking of Trinity, they stomped the water out of the mud-hole on ASC last Friday night by the score of 60-20, now before I hear about coach David King and running the score up, let me tell ya'll something, he ain't that kind of person! I have had him ask me, "Keith, what can I do to stop from scoring?" David's not blessed with having a full second team and it's hard to tell your players to kneel down on every play and if they did, that's even more embarrassing to the other team! So we're back to the age old saying of....If your school is gonna field a football team, be prepared!!!!!

Natchez High football is Back!!!!!!!!!! Well, here's hoping so anyway. In their Jamboree they scored 6 times against Callaway! Callaway and Wilkinson County tied at 18 apiece earlier in the evening. I still believe that if Natchez High can pull off 6 or 7 wins this year, we'll see a dominance every year, I truly believe that more kids will want to be involved once they start winning!

Thursday night will be a big game for Cathedral, although it's a Jamboree...they'll be playing their biggest rival in St. Al. and the gloves always come off for this contest! Be there early if you want a seat! And by the way, yes you read it right, it's Thursday night, great move by the Cathedral staff! Go git'em Greenwave!!!!!

You better get there extra early Friday night if you want a seat, and "there" is Bobby Marks field at ACCS as they host the Trinity Saints in what will be the most talked about game this week! Bragging rights for a year! I don't think I need to say anymore about this game, everybody already knows.

Saturday night is the annual Vidalia Jamboree the stands will be packed here also! To heck with the other games that will played, just be there for the Vidalia/Ferriday match-up as they go fistacuffs!!!! No really, there'll be alot of good football that night and the atmosphere is always great!

I want to wish all of the local coaches and their teams the best of luck this year and here's hoping that injuries will be far and few between!

Poor Joey Martin got SWEPT!!!!!!!!! All the trivia questions were answered...well maybe this week he'll toughen up!

I'm suppose to go fishing tomorrow over in Walthall County in a State Lake that hasn't opened up yet to the Public, they said that it's full of 5 to 6 lb. bass and that these fish have never seen a lure before! So me and Jim Bob are teaming up with some dignitaries from the MS. Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for a fun filled day of Bass Attacking for an upcoming show!

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on the rebound!

As the storm settles down, I'm writing this on Monday but, power outages won't let me put this out to ya'll until today. I hope everybody  came out of this safely. Lisa and I volunteered our time at Parkway Baptist Church early Monday morning as we were a Red Cross disaster relief shelter. Everything went pretty smoothly and also with alot of great people from our church made it even better.

I was gone for yet another outdoor show and missed football again this week but, congrats to the Greenwave for sticking it to St. Al, a game that always carries the bitterness of outcomes from years past! ACCS gets bragging rights for another year as they upended Trinity, I hope this series is here for good! Always great to have a good cross town rivalry. Natchez High Coach Lance Reed must be doing something right and that's making believers out of his players, I know they're only 1-0 but, a few more wins and these Dogs might surprise some folks this year!!!! Ferriday slips by Vidalia in VHS's Jamboree but, when they match up again later in the year, don't count out the Vikings in this one!

Joey's Trivia got jumped on pretty quick this week! Maybe he'll toughen up some!

Well I haven't told ya'll much that you don't already know but, maybe somebody was hiding under a rock for the last few days! I don't have any outdoor shows this week so I'm gonna watch some football Friday night!!!!!!!!!!

Next up this Friday night............ACCS at Parklane.....Cathedral is idle.......Natchez High host Vicksburg........Trinity at Oak Forest......... Vidalia host Block.

Ya'll have a great week and I'll catch ya'll on The Board!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the only games played out of the teams that I cover in the Miss-Lou...Vidalia put a spanking on Block! Ya'll already know the details but I just have to mention that Jordan Brewer shined big in this game, and he's only a junior!!!!

I'm not sure when most of the other games will be made-up or even played at all, I heard that the ACCS/Parklane game is cancelled since it's not a conference game. I'll let ya'lll know as soon as I find out more.

Tentative Schedule this week: ACCS host Prairie View.... Cathedral host Dexter.... Trinity host Silliman.... Vidalia at University Lab.... I thought I had the Natchez High schedule but I lost it somewhere, I'll get it on here as soon as I find it!

My computer was down last week due to the storm, so I'm just now getting all the updates on here.

I'm headed to get a tree off of my hunting camp....catch ya'll later!

JOEY SWEEPS THE TRIVIA FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MANY, MANY WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK,OK,OK...so I'm a few days late, but I have a good excuse! I went camping over the weekend and since Lisa doesn't work on Mondays, we stayed over til Monday morning and then took our trailer down to Hammond for some warranty work. On my way home Monday from Hammond, I got a call from a friend that got a tree on his camp, so I left Monday evening for Newellton to help him. I'm just now getting back to Natchez. Besides all that, I ain't got alot to say that ya don't already know anyways but.....for those that somehow missed some stuff, here goes!!!!!!!!!!!!! ACCS topples Prairie View 42-8, Cathedral was idle, Natchez High shoulda won but lost to Vicksburg 40-34 ( the score was 33-7 after the first quarter in favor of Vicksburg!) Trinity slips by Silliman 28-21 and Vidalia takes one on the chin from University High, 37-26.

Coming at ya this week...........ACCS at Huntington, the two coaches from the ACCS coaching controversy meet. Cathedral at West Lincoln, district action contest! Natchez High at Franklin County, should be another shoot-out. Trinity at Prairie View, a 2A match-up but nothing at stake. Vidalia at Rayville, always a good game!

Good luck to all the area teams and know that you'll be representing the Miss-Lou proud whatever the outcome!!!!!

I'll be heading out to Tupelo in the morning for the last of the years Outdoor Shows.....thank goodness, they get old after awhile!

I've got some updates on the AYA link and I've gotten more High School schedules listed under that link....if you would like your teams schedule listed, just e-mail me the schedule and I'll get'er put on! My e-mail link is at the bottom of the main page.

Don't forget to check out the Bulletin Board every Friday night for all the scores from the nights action!

Until next week, ya'll have a good'un!!!!!

In 1971, Huntington started out the season 7-0. Who gave the Hounds their first loss? Answer: Riverside Academy. Winner: Michael McAnally.

Bonus Questions

In 1986 Pete Rose stepped up to the plate for the last time, as his Cincinnati Reds faced off against the San Diego Padres. However, the career leader in hits would not increase his total beyond 4,256. Who struck him out? Answer: Goose Gossage. Winner: Joey Martin.

In 1965, for the first time in major league history, a player manned every position in one game. Name him. Answer: The player was Bert Campaneris, and he played for the Kansas City A's. When he took the mound in the eighth inning, the first person who stepped in to
bat against him was his cousin, Jose Cardenal, both of whom were from Cuba. Campaneris' feat was the brainchild of Charles O. Finley, A's owner, and the event was dubbed "Campy Campaneris Night" at Municipal Stadium in KC. The Royals lost 5-3 in 13 innings. Winner: Carl Rogel.

Three out of five in the Miss-Lou won this past week...AC, NHS & TE. Cathedral and Vidalia suffered losses but don't count'em out just yet! It's refreshing to see Natchez High win more than one game a year! I still believe that if they pull off 6 or 7 wins this year....watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They'll be tearing it up once again in 5A football.

Joey didn't fare as well this week as he did last week in the Trivia but, I'm guessing that nobody from around here will get this weeks main question!

The big stories going around lately are about re-alignment in the MPSA and how it's not fair! Well guess what? It ain't never ever gonna please everybody!!!! Where some teams think their district is tougher than the other, the next year it can turn completely around. Schools will continue to have up and down years, it just happens! So before you go crying about how unfair your school is being treated, remember one thing, it's mostly about getting a good education that counts in the long run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, after I totally screwed up last weeks game schedule, here's this Friday night local schedule...ACCS will play somebody, so will Cathedral, Natchez High will play as well as Trinity and Vidalia to boot!! There, now let's see if I mess this one up also!

Good luck to all the area schools and I believe I'll finally get to see a football game or two this coming Friday night!

I spent the weekend in Tupelo, MS in hopefully the last outdoor show of the year! Pretty fair crowd considering what all has happened on the coast and the Big Easy but, it was probably a good way for some to get away from it all and enjoy getting ready for the upcoming hunting season.

Ya'll have a good week and I'll see ya'll later!

In 1980, Glenbrook finished second in LISA for the second straight year in Class AA. Name the Apache junior receiver who caught five TD passes in 1980. Answer: Richard Herron. Winner: Joey Martin.

Bonus Questions

In 1980, an NFL wide receiver made only three catches, but all were for TDs. Who was he? Answer: Keith Wright of Cleveland. Winner: Eddie Brewer.

In the first season of the American Football League, which player was named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player? Answer: Abner Haynes of the Dallas Texans. Winner: Joey Martin.

Well, we didn't have as many Glenbrook fans as we thought, Joey put up a trivia question that maybe they knew and I only got one response. Oh well, maybe next time. If it weren't for that dang Eddie Brewer, Joey would've gotten the sweep!!!!!

I'm late posting this but I'll do it anyways.....The AYA games this past weekend were cancelled...but there is some more info, they will be made up at the end of the regular season. This weeks games will be played as scheduled.

I finally had a weekend off that I could get out and watch some football and guess what? It decides to storm and ya'll all know that I can't get wet.....sugar melts! I decided to listen to the games on the radio and stay high and dry. So I kept going back and forth between the ACCS/Copiah game and the Trinity/Tri-County game. I'm not saying this because I'm a graduate of ACCS but, Trinity's game got out of hand pretty quickly and was probably more fun to watch than listen too, so I mostly stayed tuned in the AC game as it went down to the wire! Copiah had their chances, they had three possessions that almost got them ahead of the Rebels but it just wasn't meant to be on this night. Congratulations to the Coach Bobby Marks and his team on getting to 5-0 for the first time probably since he did it in 1982! Also congrats to Coach David King and his hungry Saints as they improve to 4-1, a position that many thought wouldn't happen this year! I'm telling ya'll something, David gets all he can from his guys and they just keep on coming at ya each and every play!

Cathedral is having their version of Monday Night Football as they travel to West Lincoln tonight for a district contest, I believe game time is 6pm. Good Luck Green Wave!

Natchez High's game with Franklin County is cancelled and it won't be made up. This game needs to happen in the future, these two teams are just too close not to play every year.

Vidalia took one on the chin Friday night as Mangham threw up 46 points to Vidalia's 6. Already a tough year for the Vikings as they are in the midst of rebuilding after two great years of play-off teams. Don't count'em out just yet, they'll be back!

Sweet revenge, that's what it is!!!!!! Poor ole little candy boy Eli got everything he deserved, including some of the best "signage" I've ever read during a football game! Those Charger fans came up with some Beauts!!! Drew Brees showed'em what he was made of when he answered right back after the Giants opening drive netted them 3 points, Brees and Co. came back with a TD, other than almost reminiscent of the early Charger days when the defense almost all but chocked letting the Giants back in the game by halftime, they came back and held on tightly for the win!

I read where former Trinity stand-out Chad Ridley had the game winning TD for the Statesman in their game with Henderson State, the game final was 21-17. Chad had 5 catches for 55 yds.

I think I've gotten this straight now, all public school schedules are just moved up a week, they play an extra week at the end of the season. All MPSA schedules remain the same, some will have to play make-up games later if they were district contest.

So here's my attempt at this weeks games.... ACCS host Oak Forest, Cathedral at St. John, Natchez High host Meridian, Trinity host Centreville and Vidalia host Jena. If I'm wrong about any of these.......Sue Me! Oh yeah, or watch for corrections on the Bulletin Board.

Ya'll have agreat week and I'll catch ya'll later!
